Reports to: Senior Geophysicist

Background:

Silixa is seeking a passionate and curious entry-level geophysicist/data analyst to join our team and work with Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing (DFOS), a revolutionary method for real-time monitoring.

Job Description:

Reporting to Senior Geophysicist as a Line Manager, you will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):

  • Distributed fibre-optic sensing (DFOS) data processing and analysis.
  • Geophysics equipment and software management.
  • Plan and perform DFOS measurements and deployments.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Silixa products offered for alternative energy solutions (e.g., carbon, capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), and geothermal energy) and science.
  • Assist project delivery, documentation, and data management.
  • Adhere to company and client HSE requirements and local legislation at all times and actively promote safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business and support sales/revenue goals

Job requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • MSc in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Physics, Computer Science, or substantial experience in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics role.
  • Good working knowledge of and experience in geoscience or geotechnical fieldwork.
  • Experience in data processing.
  • Programming skills in, e.g., Python, Matlab, C++.
  • Team player with independent problem-solving ability
  • Good organisational, communication and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of signal processing techniques (applied to acoustics, image processing, or seismic datasets).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Have strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Willing to travel to client sites and conduct fieldwork.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients across functions such as commercial, production, support, and R&D.

Useful to have:

  • Experience in Distributed Acoustic Sensing data acquisition and processing.
  • Skills in large data management.

Wellbeing & Certification:

Some field assignments may require industry-specific health or offshore certifications. Silixa will cover the cost of any necessary medical assessments for certification suitability.
