About the opportunity
Boundless is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Materials Lead to guide the materials operations of our Fairfield, OH warehouse. This is a critical role supporting a recently acquired workgroup, blending leadership responsibilities with daily hands-on tasks to ensure accurate inventory, timely order fulfillment, and alignment with production schedules.
The Materials Lead will serve as a key point of coordination between warehouse associates, production teams, and purchasing, with a focus on inventory control, material flow, and continuous improvement. You’ll lead a small team while managing day-to-day warehouse operations—ensuring that the right materials are in the right place at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management:
- Oversee all inventory-related activities, including cycle counts, adjustments, and materials tracking.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through physical counts and system reconciliation.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overages.
2. Production & Order Fulfillment Support:
- Coordinate the picking and staging of materials in line with production and order schedules.
- Communicate proactively with internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Troubleshoot material shortages and flow issues.
3. Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise and support warehouse associates, offering training, direction, and coaching.
- Delegate tasks and promote a culture of accountability and safety.
- Participate in team meetings and daily planning to align on goals.
4. Quality Control:
- Ensure materials meet quality standards and specifications before shipment or use in production.
- Implement checks to catch errors early and resolve discrepancies quickly.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Serve as liaison between the warehouse, purchasing, and production teams.
- Provide input into purchasing decisions based on inventory usage and demand forecasting.
6. Safety & Cleanliness:
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing proper use of PPE and adherence to protocols.
- Participate in warehouse cleaning and safety audits.
7. Process Improvement & Documentation:
- Identify opportunities to streamline material handling and inventory processes.
- Keep detailed and organized records of materials received, used, and stored.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional logistics or supply chain coursework a plus
- 2+ years of warehouse or inventory experience, with leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience using inventory management software and warehouse systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail]
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Forklift certification is a plus
Working Conditions
- Role requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Shift is M-F, 8a - 4:30p but may involve earlier mornings, occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on shipping needs
