Job Description

About the Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Brooks Automation, your primary role is to serve as a technical specialist, helping to make our manufacturing processes as efficient and effective as possible. You will partner closely with our design engineering team, helping to influence the manufacturability of new products during design and prototyping stages.

You will have a blend of technical acumen and strong communication skills, along with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and a strong base in areas such as robotics and precision technology. Work Location: This is an onsite role based at our manufacturing site in Johor Bahru.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and streamline manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, and quality

  • Oversee maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime

  • Testing the equipment to ensure high-quality performance, eliminating malfunctions, and streamlining the manufacturing process

  • Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.

  • Works with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.

  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.

  • Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes, equipment design, or workflow to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.

  • Act as the bridge between the design and production phases, ensuring seamless transitions while simultaneously improving efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including design engineers, production managers, and quality assurance personnel to coordinate efforts and achieve manufacturing objectives.

  • May be assigned to small projects or to phases/portions of larger projects.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with at least 5 or more years of relevant work experience in a similar role; a Master's degree or relevant certifications in Semiconductor manufacturing or related fields will be advantageous

  • Advanced coursework or specialization in semiconductor manufacturing processes, including cleanroom protocols, photolithography, etching, and wafer fabrication is a plus.

  • Strong skills in computer-aided design (CAD) software for creating and analyzing semiconductor designs and manufacturing processes.

  • Basic understanding of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of semiconductor manufacturing equipment such as lithography machines, ion implanters, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) tools.

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and methodologies for process optimization, yield improvement, and quality control in semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with Industry Standards and Regulations: Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO, SEMI standards) and regulatory requirements governing semiconductor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance and quality assurance.

  • Continuous Improvement skills and Lean Demand Flow Technology experience preferred

  • May require up to 20% travel.
