Job Description
The Quality Engineer at Brooks plays a crucial role in establishing and maintaining high standards of Product Quality from the ground up. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring robust quality systems and processes to ensure that all our products consistently meet both technical specifications and customer expectations.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to set up quality control protocols, troubleshoot new production challenges, and drive continuous improvement in our Greenfield manufacturing site in JB, Malaysia. Key Responsibilities:
Process Monitoring and Control - regularly check manufacturing processes to ensure they meet predefined quality standards and identify areas for process improvement.
Defect Analysis and Troubleshooting: investigate product failures and defects, determine root causes using tools like failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and implement corrective actions.
Quality Audits and Compliance: conduct internal audits and manage external quality audits to ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, and customer specifications.
Data Analysis and Reporting: collect and analyze quality data (yield, defect rates, etc.) to identify trends, prepare reports and make informed decisions to enhance quality.
Supplier Quality Management: collaborate with suppliers to ensure that materials meet quality specifications; manage supplier quality issues and drive improvements.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives: lead and / or participate in continuous improvement projects that aim to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize processes using methodologies like Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality control systems and processes for semiconductor microchip production.
Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and potential issues, providing insights for process optimization and problem-solving.
Utilize statistical analysis and quality assurance methodologies to assess product quality, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions.
Participate in the development and review of product specifications, test procedures, and quality documentation to maintain product integrity and compliance.
Resolution of customer quality issues by investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and providing comprehensive quality-related data and reports.
Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to support new product development, ensuring quality requirements are integrated into the design and manufacturing processes.
Maintain awareness of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates, applying relevant insights to enhance quality management practices within the semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical) or Materials Science, focused on understanding semiconductor equipment manufacturing processes.
5-7 years of relevant experience working in a similar role
Proficiency in Quality Tools and Methodologies: Skilled in using quality tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
Data Analysis Skills: Ability to utilize data analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab) to interpret and manage large datasets for quality improvement and problem resolution.
Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot defects, determine the root cause of quality issues, and develop effective solutions
Knowledge of Semiconductor Reliability: understanding of reliability testing and engineering, including accelerated life testing, stress testing, and how environmental factors affect product performance and longevity.
Ability to work cross-functionally with teams like R&D, production, and maintenance to implement quality improvements.
Six Sigma Certification: Holding a Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, demonstrating expertise in process improvement and quality management techniques.
Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP systems, and quality management software tools.
Some basic knowledge of Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with key semiconductor processes such as lithography, etching, and deposition, understanding how these processes impact product quality.
Communication and Collaborative Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical information effectively across various teams and to facilitate collaborative problem-solving.
