Engineering Technician

Job Description

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION BASED OUT OF OUR CHELMSFORD, MA LOCATION ***

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supports H/W and S/W engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry along with audit, test and debug of software products in accordance with test plans and procedures. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on software, systems, and equipment. Maintains documentation on results, reports results to engineering, and may assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists product development engineers in the diagnosis and replication of product failures. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

ENTRY LEVEL:
Work is supervised daily or weekly with assignments that encompass a well-defined set of tasks. Follows established procedures, processes or policies. Work is reviewed frequently for overall adequacy and accuracy. Developing a good knowledge of the company and may be assigned to projects for career development. Learning the principles, practices, and processes in the function. Developing the business knowledge required of the full job. May resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisor depending on the level and complexity. Follows defined procedures and practices.
