IQC Lead Engineer

Job Description

About the Role:

The IQC Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) function, ensuring all incoming materials meet stringent quality standards through rigorous inspection, compliance, and process optimization. This role involves leading and mentoring the IQC team to foster a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement while developing and implementing robust IQC procedures, monitoring key metrics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to address quality concerns.

Key responsibilities include conducting audits and assessments, advocating for high-quality standards to represent customer interests, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring the reliability of inspection data through Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA). The IQC Lead Engineer applies advanced quality methodologies such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and 8D problem-solving techniques to drive defect reduction and efficiency.

Additionally, the role ensures compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards and calibration requirements, utilizes precision measuring equipment for detailed inspections, and leverages Oracle software for daily IQC operations while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the IQC function, ensuring all incoming materials meet stringent quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor the IQC team, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, refine, and optimize IQC procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and analyze IQC metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional team and suppliers to address quality issues and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of incoming materials to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Represent customer interests by advocating for high-quality standards and addressing any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IQC results and quality metrics.
  • Perform measurements and conduct Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) to ensure the accuracy and reliability of inspection data.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards and calibration requirements.
  • Utilize measuring equipment and perform detailed inspections to verify the quality of incoming materials.
  • Investigate product failure and defects, determine root causes using tools like failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and / or participate in continuous improvement projects that aim to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize processes using methodologies like Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) through methods like Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and Pareto analysis to resolve defects.
  • Drive 8D problem-solving methodology, ensuring structured corrective action processes
  • Use Oracle software to perform day-to-day IQC tasks, including data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in semiconductor technology.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance and control within the semiconductor industry, with a focus on IQC management or supplier quality engineering.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management experience in IQC or similar function.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performing measurements and conducting MSA.
  • Proven expertise in quality control methodologies, supplier quality and IQC management, and statistical analysis tools, 8D, FMEA, SPC, RCA.
  • Possess deep expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, including DMAIC, Kaizen, waste reduction, and statistical process control, to drive efficiency, defect prevention, and continuous improvement in quality management.
  • Communication and Collaborative Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical information effectively across various teams and to facilitate collaborative problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in using quality inspection tools and software.
  • Familiarity with QMS standards (ISO9001) and calibration requirements.
  • Capable of using measurement equipment and performing detailed inspections.
  • Proficiency in using Oracle software for IQC tasks.
