Brooks – Laboratory Automation Solutions, specialise in the design and manufacture of compact, innovative benchtop automation for optimising pre- and post-analytical workflows in pathology and analytical laboratories, and has installations worldwide. We are searching for our next Mechatronics/Test Engineer as we scale up our growth journey.
What you’ll do:
Support the test team to configure hardware, implement self-tests and test scripts,
Develop embedded software to interface with control systems and information systems, and perform self-diagnostics (Bare Metal/Proprietary RTOS/Zephyr RTOS),
Take part in development of the new range of products utilizing modern microcontrollers, distributed architecture (Ethernet and RS-485), Zephyr RTOS and embedded C++/C,
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team, product management, and customers to define new or improve on product features,
Develop and communicate software requirements and design changes to peers,
Ensure that designs are fit for purpose and meet cost, quality, compliance and schedule requirements,
Ensure reliable and high-quality hardware and software through testing best practices,
Support manufacturing and our Customer Solutions Group in investigating and troubleshooting field issues (remote or on-site),
Participate in team reviews on specifications on code, on documentation and on test-cases,
Work with management and senior leaders to keep projects on track.
What you’ll bring:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechatronics or equivalent discipline,
3+years experience with embedded software design and development for innovative solutions,
Experience and knowledge in designing or supporting electro-mechanical devices
Experience programming in C/C++ for control systems,
Understanding of embedded Real-Time operating systems (Familiarity with Zephyr seen as favourable),
Demonstrable experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, or similar scripting language is beneficial,
Experience with distributed control systems and unit/integration/system testing is a plus,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
Excellent critical thinking, diagnosis and problem solving skills,
Demonstrable ability to work autonomously and consistently deliver results,
