Sr. Technical AccountantJob Description
Brooks Automation is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join its technical accounting and financial reporting team. This role, based in Chelmsford, MA (on-site four days per week), reports to the Manager of Technical Accounting and is highly visible within the organization The person in this role will partner and collaborate with various teams throughout the organization on technical accounting matters, play an instrumental role in all aspects of financial reporting process ensuring GAAP compliance and assist with analyzing technical accounting issues that require accounting judgment. A successful candidate will possess a strong set of research, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; be proactive and timeline-focused and have a strong focus on continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Manager of Technical Accounting on analyzing complex technical accounting matters for special transactions and significant contracts to assess the accounting impact.
- Research technical accounting guidance and prepare memoranda for special transactions.
- Play instrumental role in all aspects of the financial reporting process ensuring GAAP compliance, including preparation of annual financial statements, disclosures, supporting schedules and internal control packages.
- Successfully oversee global lease accounting process, including technical accounting analysis of all lease-related matters, lease accounting system maintenance, and preparation of annual financial statement lease disclosures.
- Support accounting close process by preparing consolidated lease account reconciliations / rollforwards via partnering with local accounting and shared services teams.
- Support a review of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.
- Assist with periodic impairment testing of goodwill, intangibles, and long-lived assets by researching applicable accounting guidance and preparing technical accounting memoranda.
- Proactively assess the impact of new and emerging GAAP standards on the Company’s results and financial statements.
- Assist with periodic updates of company accounting policies within the area of responsibility.
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence.
- Perform internal controls and prepare related documentation within the area of responsibility.
- Assist with implementation of new accounting and financial reporting standards and provide guidance to the accounting teams upon adoption.
- Serve as a key contact on all deliverables within their area of responsibility during the annual audits and quarterly reviews, ensure timely and successful completion of audit-related deliverables.
- Participate in projects or ad-hoc analysis in support of finance department and company initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 4+ years of related technical accounting and SEC reporting experience, with either a combination of public accounting and public company industry experience (preferred), or public accounting experience only. Big 4 experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of internal controls.
- Self-starter/demonstrated success in a dynamic, fast paced, and growing company
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a sharp focus on details.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel; Oracle Cloud, Visual Lease and data analytic software is a plus.
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $105,593.46 USD to $142,861.74 USDFactors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
