Planner - Contract Manufacturing

Job Description

About the Role:

The Factory Planner (Contract Manufacturing) is responsible for end‑to‑end production planning, materials coordination, and delivery performance management across external Contract Manufacturers (CMs). The role ensures supply continuity, optimal inventory levels—including consigned materials—and on‑time delivery of finished goods to meet business and customer demand.

Acting as the primary operational interface with CM partners, the Planner drives schedule adherence, resolves material and capacity constraints, and manages demand‑supply alignment across multiple stakeholders. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives by strengthening planning processes, improving forecast accuracy, and enhancing overall supply chain responsiveness and execution.

Work Location: ONSITE – Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand & Supply Planning

  • Review and analyze demand forecast and CM capacity sizing to ensure accurate supply planning with Contract Manufacturers.

  • Drive weekly and monthly supply commits with CM, ensuring alignment to build plans, capacity, and material availability.

  • Manage supply risks proactively and develop recovery/mitigation plans with stakeholders.

Production Scheduling & On-Time Delivery Management

  • Monitor CM production schedules to ensure adherence to required build plans and delivery dates.

  • Expedite orders and coordinate schedule adjustments as needed to support urgent business needs.

  • Track and report on-time delivery metrics; drive corrective actions for deviations.

Consignment Management

  • Oversee consignment stock levels, including replenishment, usage tracking, cycle counts, and reconciliation with CM.

  • Ensure timely flow of consignment material requirements to CM based on demand changes or production shifts.

Contract Manufacturer Operations Management

  • Serve as the primary operational contact for CM on planning, scheduling, inventory, and delivery matters.

  • Conduct regular reviews with the CM to address performance, risks, and operational gaps.

  • Ensure CM complies with required manufacturing, quality, and reporting standards.

Inventory & Cost Optimization

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support delivery and financial targets while minimizing excess and obsolescence.

  • Review slow-moving and aging inventory and coordinate disposition or reduction plans.

  • Support cost reduction initiatives through improved planning efficiency and process improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with procurement, logistics, engineering, quality, and customer operations to resolve supply issues.

  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO) implementation by coordinating with CM for timely transitions.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide regular updates on supply status, risks, inventory, and delivery performance.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy and responsiveness.

  • Contribute to SIOP and operational review meetings.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in Production Planning or Supply Chain Management, preferably in electronics or manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems; experience with Oracle/SAP/Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.

  • Experience working directly with Contract Manufacturers or outsourced production partners.

  • Knowledge of consignment inventory processes and controls.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with Lean, continuous improvement, or supply chain optimization methodologies is an advantage.

  • Must be willing to travel internationally as required (15-20%)
