Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) Specialist

Job Description

About the Role:

The Automation CoE Specialist serves as a central IT resource responsible for accelerating business automation and lowcode solution delivery using Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Forms, Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, and Power BI.

This is a global role that supports a selfservice automation model by coaching and enabling business teams, providing solution architecture and bestpractice guidance, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring all solutions comply with established governance and standards.

While most solutions are developed by business teams, the Automation CoE Specialist will also design and deliver endtoend automation solutions directly when required, particularly highpriority, timesensitive, or crossfunctional initiatives. In addition, this role supports the M365 and Power Platform helpdesk/ticket queue, assisting with incident resolution, service requests, and enduser adoption queries.

Work Location: Onsite – Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru.

Key Responsibilities:

Enablement & COE Support (Primary)

  • Serve as the central IT advisor for automation and low-code solutions across the enterprise.

  • Help teams get started quickly by recommending patterns, architectures, templates, and best practices.

  • Provide hands-on assistance to overcome technical hurdles (connectors, permissions, data structures, error handling, performance).

  • Run enablement activities (office hours, workshops, internal documentation, solution starter kits).

  • Support citizen developers and power users while reinforcing governance, security, and lifecycle discipline.

Solution Development (as needed for priority work)

  • Design and deliver automation solutions when business priority, complexity, or urgency requires IT ownership.

  • Build and maintain solutions using:

  • Power Automate (cloud flows, approvals, error handling, integration patterns)

  • Power Apps (canvas apps, model-driven apps if applicable, forms UX, data connections)

  • SharePoint/Lists/Forms as solution foundations

  • Power BI dashboards and metrics where automation outcomes require reporting

  • Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Implement standards for maintainability: naming conventions, versioning, logging, testing, and documentation.

Support / Helpdesk Queue (Ongoing)

  • Triage and resolve tickets related to Power Platform and M365 automation tools.

  • Diagnose issues involving access, licensing, permissions, SharePoint/List structures, flow failures, connectors, gateway issues, and data integrity.

  • Partner with the helpdesk to improve first-line resolution via knowledge articles and repeatable fixes.

  • Escalate and coordinate with Microsoft support or internal platform owners when required.

Governance, Standards & Platform Health

  • Promote and uphold established governance (DLP policies, environment strategy, connector usage, data sensitivity).

  • Assist with environment administration tasks such as:

  • Solution packaging/deployment guidance

  • Environment permissions and roles (as applicable)

  • Monitoring and auditing of flows/apps for performance, reliability, and risk

  • Contribute to platform roadmaps: reusable components, templates, approved connectors, and adoption metrics.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with security, compliance, enterprise architecture, and app owners to align solutions with corporate standards.

  • Engage stakeholders to clarify requirements, define success measures, and document solution outcomes.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft automation and low-code tools, including:

  • Power Automate

  • Power Apps

  • SharePoint (sites, lists, libraries, permissions)

  • Microsoft Lists and Forms

  • Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with integrations, permissions, and data flows.

  • As automation solutions become more reliant on AI, a solid foundation in AI is critical.

  • Ability to translate business processes into automation workflows and user-friendly apps.

  • Experience working in an IT support model: ticket triage, incident resolution, communication, documentation.

  • Solid understanding of security fundamentals (least privilege, data handling, governance concepts).

  • Strong communication skills: able to coach non-technical users and document solutions clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience supporting a Center of Excellence, platform team, or enablement function.

  • Familiarity with:

  • Power Platform governance concepts (DLP, environments, managed solutions)

  • Microsoft Fabric and Power BI

  • Azure AD / Entra ID groups and permissions

  • Integration patterns (APIs, connectors, data gateways)

  • Microsoft certifications (nice-to-have): PL-900, PL-100, PL-200, PL-400

Success Measures (Example KPIs)

  • Reduced time-to-value for teams launching automation

  • Increased adoption and satisfaction scores from internal customers

  • Reduction in repeat ticket categories through knowledge articles/templates

  • Improved stability of flows/apps (fewer failures, faster MTTR)

  • Increased percentage of solutions delivered using standardized patterns

Role Characteristics / Working Style

  • Highly service-oriented with a “help teams succeed mindset

  • Comfortable switching between coaching, troubleshooting, and hands-on development

  • Able to balance self-service enablement with direct delivery for urgent priorities Strong prioritization and stakeholder management

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility.
