This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Calix is looking for a technically strong Product Security Architect to join a high performing Product Security team. This team drives secure development of next generation telecom/networking and SaaS products, while this role will specialize in Calix developed embedded devices such as residential gateways and their underlying OS. The ideal candidate has in-depth experience in implementing security controls within modern DevOps processes, Agile Methodology, Product Development lifecycle, and best practices.

The Product Security Architect would need to have at least 5-7 years of experience and relevant education. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and product development teams to ensure that our embedded products are secure and compliant with industry standards. You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating potential security vulnerabilities, as well as developing and implementing security controls and policies. Additionally, you will be responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest security technologies and trends, and for providing guidance and direction to the engineering team on how to incorporate these technologies into our systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct threat modeling and design reviews on network/telecom equipment, including embedded systems and operating systems, and their supporting management software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize potential security risks.
  • Develop and drive implementation of security measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Stay current on emerging security threats and technologies.
  • Participate in the development of security policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to engineering teams on security best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product security, with a focus on embedded systems and operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of security principles and technologies, including encryption, access control, and network security.
  • Deep knowledge of networking protocols and the interaction between software and hardware, such as problems of memory management or permission level.
  • Experience with threat modeling and design reviews.
  • Ability to read and review C/C++ and Python code where necessary to identify or confirm security vulnerabilities.
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 27001 and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, relationships building skills and experience in managing stakeholders/partners to drive cross functional programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Ability to reproduce described attacks or create POC attacks of discovered vulnerabilities in embedded devices and compiled software.
  • Proven ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Deep understanding of distributed and service-oriented architectures; delivered large scale commercial enterprise software systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Remote-based position located in the United States or Canada.

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

141,700.00 - 236,100.00 USD Annual

All Other Locations:

123,200.00 - 205,300.00 USD Annual
