Network Engineer, Lab Infrastructure

In this highly crucial and visible position, the Candidate will join an experienced team of individuals who work in a fast-paced and highly dynamic Data Center-Like Environment. Candidate will plan, design, implement, troubleshoot and improve lab network infrastructure. Candidate will work closely with Lab Management, Lab Architect, System Administrators, Test Engineers, and Lab Technicians.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop and implement network solutions, implementing proof-of-concept prototypes and work across cross cultural teams to implement the network solution.
• Optimize and improve efficiency of current networks.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware / software / network problems.
• Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Secure network by establishing and enforcing policies and defining access restrictions.
• Monitor network performance and ensure network availability and reliability.
• Propose and implement tools to accelerate network monitoring and debug
environments.
• Participate in design discussions and drive execution with a goal to continuous process improvements.
• Work with cross cultural teams to implement network elements and protocols as required.
• Install, provision and support 3rd party routers like Cisco and Juniper, proxy servers, firewalls and switches.
• Analyze system scalability and interworking issues and perform root cause analysis of system/network issues.
• Preparing, staging and configuring equipment for deployment, upgrades and
replacement of failed units.
• Preparing and executing pre and post maintenance window test scenarios.
• Modifying existing network and endpoint (PON, ONT) configurations as directed.
• Scripting (BASH, Shell, Perl, PowerShell etc.) with basic programming knowledge in Python or similar language.
• Responding to JIRA (tickets) requests.
• Troubleshoot incidents or failed test infrastructure.
• Participate in P1 reviews.
• Familiarity with ITIL process (incident, problem and tasks).
• IT / NOC network support processes.
• Documenting work and changes to the environment (Install / Adds / Moves / Changes).
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field is desirable.
• Current CCNA and / or JNCP in one or more disciplines (CCNA Route and Switch or DataCenter) is highly desirable.
• 5+ years enterprise networking and data center experience.
• 1-3 years testing experience on networking technologies and protocols.
• Strong background in Network Engineering with training, certification (Cisco & Juniper) and experience in setting up, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting the lab
internal network including EVPN – VXLAN and VM Infrastructure
• Understand the overall EVPN spine leaf architecture and data center / enterprise network functionalities.
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies and protocols (L2/L3/NAT/DNS/DHCP etc.) with good understanding of Datapath concepts and packet processing models.
• Strong knowledge of application / transport and network infrastructure protocols, services and monitoring tools.
• Experience in working with Cisco and Juniper routers / switches – like Juniper MX, EX and QFX switches, Cisco ASR and Nexus9k.
• Ability to Implement, Administer and Troubleshoot network infrastructure issues.
• Proven work experience as a network engineer with solid understanding of network infrastructure and hardware involved.
• Excellent analytical, integration and problem solving skills with ability to work in a collaborative and fast paced environment.
• Strong knowledge on high availability (HA) solutions and redundancy mechanisms.
• Familiarity with monitoring technologies (SolarWinds, MRTG, LiveAction, Nagios).
• Familiarity with PON and other last mile carrier / ISP transport technologies.
• Basic experience in multiple of the following areas:
o Routing and switching.
o Systems Administration of Linux and Windows server environments.
o Wireless technologies.
o Data center infrastructure.
o Load balancing.
o High availability.
o VMWare.
o Python.
o OpenSource Tools.
o Firewall, VPN and network security.
• Effective interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.

Location:
Prefer hybrid work option available for candidates based in Dallas area. Lab operates 24x7 supporting Development and Test Teams across US and Global time zone. Position requires candidate to offer some flexibility in work schedule and be available for early / late for meetings or assisting in troubleshooting network issues. Occasional travel may be required to visit labs and / or attend in-person meetings and events.
The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
