We are looking for dynamic, curious, motivated, and self-starting Sales Engineer/Solution Architect to join our team in the UK. This position is responsible for technical engagement with the customer architects at CTO level. You will be responsible for understanding a customer’s existing environment, designing target architectures, and hands-on implementation of designs.
The candidate must be independent, proactive and comfortable working in small teams with similarly elite personnel. In this role, you will build strong trusted relationships, interact with, and influence senior technical staff and CTOs within Calix’s network operator customers. You will have the ability to influence their technology choices and network architecture. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience from a similar position with a proven track record of selling advanced network solutions to network operators at the highest level.
Experience Requirements
At least 10 years of network related experience in ISP/Telco environments
In-depth knowledge of OSI layer 3 networks and protocols, including broadcast, multicast, anycast concepts, routing, etc.
In-depth knowledge with various routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS)
In-depth knowledge of OSI layer 2 and practical experience, including various flavors of STP, ARP, QOS, etc.
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP
Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to hardware, L3/L2 deployment, application behaviors and TCP stack
Solid understanding of network security methodologies, including but not limited to: ACLs,
Stateful firewalls, VPNs (tunneling, IPsec, PPTP, etc.)Strong knowledge of network management and orchestration platforms
Strong knowledge of operational and support (BSS/OSS) systems and understanding interactions with APIs (REST/JSON) including design, integration, and troubleshooting considerations
Experience with VLAN Stretching technologies (EVPN, VXLAN)
Ability to provide assessment / audit of existing network, infrastructure & services
Ability to quickly analyze situations, identify problems, and provide solutions
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and high autonomy
Provide leadership and guide customers on technical and operational issues within areas of expertise
Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred additional Skills/Experience
Specialty Certifications are preferred
Experience with cloud and SaaS technologies and solutions
Experience with SDN
Experience with Cisco, Juniper and Nokia routing platforms.
Skilled in using Visio and other network documentation
