Calix is a leading technology company focused on providing networking products that enable broadband service providers opportunities to grow and manage profitable enterprises. The Calix team is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician to join our Plano lab in Texas to support development and testing efforts in this exciting industry.
The Candidate will work onsite in a fast-paced, 24 / 7 operational, data center-based lab environment, interacting with management, administrators, engineers, and technicians, to facilitate global test efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Install, power and troubleshoot a multitude of telecommunications equipment including PON’s, servers, routers and traffic generators used in development and testing.
- Cabling network elements, either directly, or through patch panels, with neat, organized, and professional aesthetics.
- Validate, label and track connections through cloud-based systems and tracking solutions.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues using appropriate test sets and light meters.
- Document workflow and interactions with test teams using Jira tickets.
- Develop a strong understanding of Calix products and the lab’s automation infrastructure, including Velocity.
- Communicate professionally (both written and verbally) with team members working onsite, or internationally.
- Progress skills and technical development to enhance lab operations and utility.
- Ensure engineering teams have the necessary tools required to meet development cycles and customer commitments with no, or minimal, downtime.
Qualifications:
- Proficient with DC power, including rectifiers, breakers, and fuse panels.
- A working knowledge of AC power.
- Familiarity with various fiber and copper cabling solutions including patch panels; experience in wiring high density solutions professionally.
- Capable of troubleshooting and isolating faults to a specific link or device using applicable test equipment.
- Knowledge of PON based FTTX systems and components including OLT’s and ONT’s.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized; possess outstanding analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Experience with asset management, RFID tagging, and Jira ticketing system is desirable.
- Team Player with strong focus on customer service and engineering excellence.
- Display strong work ethic, discipline and professionalism.
- Competency in MS Office.
- Excellent technical communication skills.
- A general interest in learning, including how to configure and troubleshoot networking equipment, switches, routers, OLT’s and traffic generators.
- Experience in working in Linux environment.
- An associates degree or military training as an Electronics Technician or similar technical field

The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
