This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Information Technology Delivery team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning.

The IT Portfolio Delivery Intern will support the application and iteration of delivery standards, working with teams to optimize processes, leverage AI technology (Microsoft Copilot) to identify opportunities for and enable agentic workflows. Reporting to the IT Delivery Director and under the supervision of the Senior IT Program Delivery Manager, this role focuses on improving efficiency, eliminating manual steps, and enabling transformation across delivery and portfolio management. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Support Portfolio Design and Implementation
- Apply standards from portfolio delivery frameworks (e.g. Agile, SAFE, Kanban) and iterate on reporting processes by working closely with all delivery teams to establish a uniform portfolio reporting approach.
- Help build and organize project structures in work management platforms such as Jira and Confluence (milestones, labels, links, metadata).
- Help map current JIRA project structures to executive dashboards.
- Participate in different scenarios of adoption—from building from scratch, to cleanup, to enhancement.
- Apply the newly defined portfolio design by creating and updating project structures, milestones, labels, links, and required metadata in Jira.
Experiment with AI Tools & Build AI Agents
- Experiment with automation and build agent to eliminate manual steps in delivery processes (e.g. using agents for incremental milestones planning, story points analysis and assignment, data collection and report updates automation).
- Test the agents using real data and help improve or refine them.
Learn from Real IT Teams
- Sit in on delivery meetings like sprint planning, retrospectives, prioritization sessions, and project updates.
- Use what you learn to improve project data structures and workflow accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Student currently pursuing a degree in a technical field, preferably Information Technology related, with at least two years completed.
- Strong familiarity with how project, program, and portfolio data are structured is foundational.
- Foundational understanding of IT delivery and portfolio management processes and OKRs, including understanding of Value‑Based vs. Activity‑Based Metrics
- Tools & Integration: understanding of JIRA data architecture, Confluence auto-population, Power BI modeling & visualization
- Experience with AI and automation, with awareness of what agents are and how they can be developed using tools like Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and propose process improvements.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively with delivery managers, development teams, and stakeholders.
- Adaptability and curiosity, with a willingness to experiment and iterate on frameworks and processes.
- Attention to detail in maintaining documentation, tracking actions, ensuring process integrity, and prioritizing tasks.
- Proactive mindset, comfortable supporting transformation initiatives and driving automation opportunities.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, and willingness to learn.
- Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
