Power Transmission Engineer

Reports To: DIRECTOR POWER TRANSMISSION ENGINEERING

SUMMARY

Power Transmission Engineer (PTE) is a technical position with CTC’s Engineering Department. The PTE functions as a technical specialist that provides sales support and technical training of CTC Global Business Development and utility and electrical power contractors for the successful implementation of CTC products and services on customers’ power line systems. Under general direction, the position requires a scope of technical experiences and organizational skills focused on the technical requirements of power transmission and distribution lines, along with providing ACCC® Conductor solutions to customers’ power line application problems. Responsible for technical oversight and review of project engineering work performed by external resources in support of the development and implementation of transmission line projects through the planning, execution, and closeout phases of the project. Includes communicating technical requirements to external/internal customers. Will perform work as well as be able to review the work of other engineers and designers engaged in utilizing CTC Global’s ACCC® Conductor products. This position will also be engaged in review of the technical requirements in project bid documents or tenders. Some travel maybe expected to support Business Development in a technical role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position requires significant experience in electric utility transmission and distribution (T&D) line

systems engineering and design.

• Specifically, we are looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to provide outstanding technical leadership

to our team, engaged in transmission and distribution system design for major utility clients.

• Performs all aspects of design for high voltage and EHV Overhead Transmission line projects including

line routing, structure knowledge and line analysis.

• Knowledge of insulator and hardware selection, conductor wire selection and technical support for

customer.

• Keenly focused on production of high-quality work and supports continuous improvement efforts.
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
• Actively coordinates with internal and external team members on transmission line projects for the

world’s top electric utilities.

• Provide training of outside engineers on CTC products like CCPTM and explaining the advantages of

ACCC Conductor over conventional or competitor overhead line products.

• Provides support to Business Development or pursuit activities. Serves as an overhead transmission line

design technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project

teams.

• Review technical specifications in bid documents or tenders, to ensure the optimum ACCC® Conductor

solution is being offered.

• Participate in development of standards or membership in industry groups, such as IEEE, that are focused

on transmission and distribution and conductor standards and writing of guidelines and brochures.

• Support Commercial, Marketing and Business Development teams with some travel required, such as

being the technical lead when meeting directly with electrical utilities or supporting trade shows.

• Working onsite or remote are acceptable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Master Engineering degree, or Bachelor degree with a minimum of 5 years of

experience in T&D. Electrical knowledge of transmission lines a plus.

Work Experience:

• Knowledge of common engineering application software, particularly tools such as PLS-CAD, SAG10,

ETAP, PowerWorld and knowledge and understanding of engineering standards such as NESC, IEEE,

ASTM, ANSI and other relevant standards that apply to transmission design.

• The position requires experience in actual hands-on design work, experience in preparing cost effective

designs, knowledge and understanding of transmission engineering, including conductor selection,

structure determination, plan and profile development, material takeoffs, etc.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in a technical group.
• Effective communications and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor a schedule to support engineering deliverables to support

project development and support of Business Development group.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
