Job Title: EHS SPECIALIST

Reports To: GLOBAL EHS DIRECTOR
Location: Irvine, CA

Department: Environmental Health and Safety


SUMMARY:

This role will provide support for risk prevention, chemical compliance, site security, and floor level safety culture integration. Weekly tasks are centered around prevention and improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will provide two key functional and competitive advantages. First, by delegating ownership of floor level tasks and data driven audits, Irvine will see a further increase in visual improvement and safety culture development and reflect to regulators CTC's drive towards compliance. This role will also permit the EHS Director to broaden the scope of the department in Security and other facilities related processes. Second, the EHS Director will be able to focus on broader programs and cost reduction operations allowing the development of a world class global program. With the delegation of these tasks to the EHS Specialist, the EHS Director can work more closely and in a cost-effective manor with Commercial, R&D, and Sales to develop a robust global risk management network.

Qualifications

Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
• Associate degree in Occupational Health and Safety or 2-4 years related experience
• Strong Communication skills with ability to influence at all levels of organization through collaborative approach
• Knowledge of or experience working with ISO 14001 certification requirements
• Knowledge of or experience working with CalOSHA and Environmental regulatory requirements
• Experience with Hazardous Waste Management (SOS, Disposal, Recycling)
• Experience performing physical and visual audits to required standards
• Understanding of incident and injury prevention programs
• Ability to influence and drive continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, etc)
• Facilitate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the attainment of the organization's EHS goals
• Engages in open and honest dialogue with co-workers at alt organizational levels to encourage a positive safety culture and establish a proactive approach of bringing forward issues, concerns, and suggestions
• Performs and/or assists with new employee orientation for all applicable EHS topics
• Provides and/or assists EHS training when required
