The Role
We’re seeking a Content Editor to take creative and editorial ownership of our newsletter portfolio. You’ll refine tone, tighten storytelling, and ensure each issue delivers clarity, personality, and consistency. This is a player-coach role where you will own content/writing for one of our flagship newsletters each week while also managing and elevating the work of our other writers.
You'll help scale the current team by implementing best-in-class editing processes and leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency and quality. This role is ideal for a seasoned editor who knows how to turn good writing into great performance content that both informs and converts. You should thrive at the intersection of journalism, marketing, and growth.
Who You Are and What You’ll Do
- Review and edit daily, weekly, and special-edition newsletters across Finance, Crypto, and Consumer verticals.
- Write and lead 1–2 core newsletters (Finance, Crypto, or Consumer) to set the standard for tone, depth, and quality.
- Use tools and AI platforms to streamline content production and optimize quality.
- Enhance subject lines, headlines, and formatting to improve overall narrative flow and boost engagement.
- Collaborate with Growth, Analytics, and Design teams to align content with audience data and performance goals.
- Maintain brand voice consistency across titles while adapting tone for each vertical.
- Provide feedback and editorial guidance to contributors.
- Coordinate with the sales team to integrate sponsored or affiliate content seamlessly.
- Audit and refine newsletter templates for readability, UX, and brand alignment (design resources will be provided).
- Contribute to editorial testing and experimentation (A/B testing subject lines, formats, or CTAs).
- Help develop and document editorial style guides, tone frameworks, and content workflows.
What You Bring to the Team
- 5+ years of experience editing newsletters or digital publications (newsletter experience required; media startup or high-volume environment a plus).
- Deep familiarity with email content formats and audience engagement metrics (open rates, CTR, conversions, retention).
- Strong editorial judgment and ability to synthesize complex topics into engaging, actionable, and concise copy.
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and edit multiple newsletters simultaneously.
- Experience in finance, crypto, or consumer media/journalism is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
- Proficiency with AI-based editing, grammar, or analytics tools (e.g., Grammarly, ChatGPT, Jasper).
- Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Beehiiv, Substack, ConvertKit, HubSpot, or similar ESPs.
- Understanding of affiliate, sponsorship, or performance-based monetization.
- Experience leading or mentoring a small editorial team or building editorial operations.
- Basic understanding of SEO, audience segmentation, or retention strategy.
