Logo Design Brief

We are a criminal defense law firm handling the most serious criminal defense cases throughout the greater Seattle–Tacoma–Olympia area, as well as Federal cases throughout Washington State. We need a logo that conveys gravity, experience, and trustworthiness — the kind of mark a client facing serious charges would feel confident hiring. This is a lawyer that is on the news frequently for both interviews and his cases are serious enough to be covered by local, even national news outlets.
The full firm name must appear on the logo: "The Law Office of Michael Austin Stewart Criminal Defense Lawyer." It can be split across multiple lines (and likely should be — e.g., "The Law Office of (possible break here) Michael Austin Stewart" / "Criminal Defense Lawyer"), but no words should be dropped.
Style: Traditional and authoritative, serif typography preferred. Premium feel suitable for letterhead, business cards, signage, and the website. Must read clearly at small sizes (favicon, business card) and large sizes (signage).
Imagery — open to (but not required): a monogram using "MAS" or "LOMS" paired with the wordmark, subtle classical imagery (scales of justice or columns/pillars) integrated tastefully, or a purely typographic wordmark if elegant enough on its own.
Color direction: Blue is the primary color — please explore deeper, more serious blues (navy, midnight, slate blue) rather than bright or corporate blues. For accents, please avoid gold and cream (overdone in legal, especially Tacoma where we are based). A black-and-white version that holds up on its own is required.
Please provide horizontal and stacked versions, plus a submark or icon-only version for social avatars and favicons.
