Logo Design Brief

What we need
A single visual mark for the AIXM AI Excellence Mark, together with a wordmark lockup.
There is one mark for every holder. There are no tiers, no colour grades and no star bands. Where an organisation has performed exceptionally, that is stated in words as a performance level on the certificate itself — it is never carried in the artwork. This keeps one recognisable mark in the market rather than three that look like each other.

IN ONE LINE
A mark that an organisation is proud to put on its door, that reads instantly as earned recognition rather than a technology logo, and that still works at 15mm in a single colour.
What AIXM is
The AI Excellence Mark is awarded by ICXI to organisations that are assessed against the AIXM standard — a structured assessment covering eight areas of how an organisation adopts, governs and uses AI. The assessment is delivered through Jasper, ICXI's assessment platform, and produces a scored result and a written report.
The Mark is held for a fixed period, is renewed, and can be verified publicly on an ICXI register. A holder displays it; a customer, partner or buyer checks it.
The holders are not technology companies. They are hotels, retailers, banks, healthcare providers, service businesses and public bodies — organisations using AI well, not organisations that build it. The mark should look at home on a reception wall beside a quality award, and in a website footer beside a payment or trust badge.
Where the mark will be used
This list is the brief. Anything that fails in one of these places fails.

Use What it demands of the artwork
Certificate The hero use. Printed at A4 and A3, possibly gold foil or blind emboss. Must hold up with no colour at all.
Window or door decal Outdoor-facing, viewed at a few metres, often beside a QR code linking to the public register. Cut vinyl and single-colour printing both possible.
Digital badge Website footer, email signature, social profile, supplier directories. Small, on white and on dark.
Reports and documents Cover of the AI Insights report and ICXI document covers, alongside the ICXI logo.
Partner and sales material Presentations, brochures, the ICXI website, market-specific packs.
Very small sizes Favicon scale on screen, roughly 15mm in print.
Non-negotiables
• Legible at 15mm in print and at 32px on screen. Test every concept at that size before showing it.
• Works in a single colour — navy alone, gold alone, black alone — and reversed in white out of navy.
• Works with no colour at all: foil, emboss, etch, engraving. If the idea only survives in full colour, it is the wrong idea.
• No text inside the symbol. Markets include Arabic and other non-Latin scripts, so the wordmark must be a separate element that locks up beside or beneath the symbol and can be replaced with a translated version.
• Sits in the ICXI family without being mistaken for the ICXI logo itself.
• A validity year or valid-to date can be added as part of a lockup — so the layout must allow for it, without it being drawn into the symbol.

ONE CONSTRAINT THAT IS ABSOLUTE
AIXM is a Mark. It is not a certification, an accreditation or an approval, and it must never look like one.
That rules out artwork that imitates a regulatory or conformity seal — official-looking roundels, ribboned wax seals, government-style crests, or anything resembling a compliance stamp. The mark should read as recognition awarded on assessment, not as a licence granted by an authority.
Colour and type
The ICXI palette is the starting point:

Colour Hex Role
ICXI Navy #1E2761 Primary. The mark should be complete in navy alone.
ICXI Gold #F5C800 Accent, and the natural choice for foil on the certificate.
White #FFFFFF Reversed use out of navy.

Designers may propose one additional accent colour if it earns its place, but must also show the mark working in navy and gold alone. ICXI documents are set in Arial, so the wordmark should sit comfortably next to it rather than fight it — beyond that, typeface choice is open.
Please avoid
These are the routes we expect to see and do not want:
• Circuit boards, nodes-and-lines networks, hexagon grids, binary.
• Brains, robot heads, humanoid figures, hands reaching towards each other.
• Glowing orbs, gradient spheres, sparkle icons — the visual shorthand every AI product adopted in 2023.
• Laurel wreaths, ribbons and star ratings, which make it one of a thousand award badges.

The subject is not artificial intelligence. The subject is excellence, assessed and verified. AI is the field it applies to, not the picture.
Deliverables
• Primary symbol, and the primary lockup of symbol with “AI Excellence Mark”.
• Horizontal and stacked lockup variants.
• Mono, reversed, single-colour and foil/emboss versions.
• Vector masters (AI or EPS, plus SVG), PNG at a range of sizes with transparent background, and PDF.
• A one-page usage sheet: clear space, minimum size, approved colourways, and four or five examples of incorrect use.
• Editable source files, with all rights in the final artwork assigned to ICXI.

Certificate design, decal layout and the register page are separate pieces of work. This brief covers the mark that goes on them.
