This Engineering role will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and transitioning our business aviation flight tracking and data services.

The Python Engineer will collaborate with members of the Radar Engineering, Aviation Development, Infrastructure, DevOps, Technical Services Group, and Operational Centre teams. Utilising cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, these teams are dedicated to advancing flight surveillance and green aviation systems.

Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborating with other engineers to develop and enhance flight surveillance data collection, processing, and associated data services.
  • Working on coding tasks in Python, C, and Perl, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of software solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews to learn from and contribute to the improvement of coding practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into larger systems.
  • Engaging in continuous learning and skill development to stay abreast of industry trends and technologies.

Who are you?

  • You hold a university degree in physical sciences, data science, or engineering disciplines, with a strong foundation in maths, physics, or engineering.
  • You have demonstrated experience and proficiency in Python programming; familiarity with C and Perl is a bonus.
  • You understand relational database services, business object constructs, and search indexing methodologies.
  • You may be a fresh graduate out of university with a passion for Aviation and Engineering or you may be an experienced Engineer keen to share their knowledge. At this stage we are keeping all options open!
  • You possess university-level skills in maths and/or physics, with a solid grounding in STEM principles.
  • You have completed courses and training in software engineering and architecture, which is advantageous.
  • You have a passion for solving complex computational problems efficiently and elegantly.
  • Your strong analytical problem-solving skills allow you to articulate the upsides and downsides of various options.
