The GTT Junior Legal Counsel is a smart, conscientious and motivated individual to be a key member of our team. The GTT Junior Legal Counsel shall provide administrative assistance to the GTT group and manage legal risk appropriately, advising on the full range of commercial legal support to the GTT group.

GTT`s Legal Department is a small in-house team of highly qualified lawyers from various jurisdictions and admin support staff providing legal support services to the GTT group. We cover more than 20 jurisdictions and work in close partnership with the organization, to achieve the best legal outcomes for the business. The GTT Legal Team is based on the US East Coast and across Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft / amend / advise on and negotiate the full range of commercial agreements, with a focus on telecommunication services sales.
  • Maintain legal contracts, track documents, prepare status reports, improve processes, perform general office tasks.
  • Manage and shepherd internal process for approving, executing, and filing contracts, often involving senior executives.
  • Prepare and edit legal documents, regulatory filings, project plans, and internal policies & procedures.
  • Perform control checks and manage the approval process of legal costs.
  • Manage and track workflows and submission deadlines.
  • Composition of basic business correspondence; proofreading and editing of documents.
  • Proactively multitask, manage priorities, resolve conflicts and meet timelines for multiple projects.
  • Provide legal advice / drafting that is accurate, understandable to and focused on the issues of the business.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders such as sales, finance, pricing and product to ensure compliance with policies and make them aware of unfavorable terms and conditions.
  • Work proactively and closely with your colleagues within and outside of the legal department including liaising with external counsel.
  • Advise on and manage the full range of issues addressed to a small in-house team including data protection, compliance, company law, employment law, litigation/dispute resolution, regulatory affairs, property matters, insolvency, licensing, IPR etc.
  • Deal with legal tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ad hoc duties as required: Maintain legal contracts, track documents, prepare status reports, improve processes, perform general office tasks.
  • Act ethically and responsibly at all times and with all dealings with other staff and with third parties.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Excellent academic qualifications (university law degree).
  • Must have a good understanding of commercial law and its practical applications in a business environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 is essential, and general comfort with learning new programs and software.
  • Familiarity with legal procedures and regulations.
  • Client-service oriented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory.
  • Desire and aptitude for learning new concepts on the job.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm for teamwork, and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional European languages, written and spoken is preferred.
  • Experience managing a high volume of requests and competing deadlines.
  • 1-2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience with a Contract Lifecycle Management systems is a plus.

Working hours

  • The working hours will be calculated as summed working hours. The shift pattern will be Monday - Friday, 09.00 - 17.30, but will be subject to changes as per manager's discretion and business needs.
