Role Summary:

This role is key to develop new product features and maintain GTT SD-WAN and security platforms, focused on the evaluation and release of new features for existing products as well as running various proof of concept evaluations for potential new products in GTT's Managed Services portfolio.

Job Scope/Supervision:

The SDN Architecture team reports to the VP of engineering in the CISO organization.

This team gathers requirements from the product development organization and produces documentation for the security engineering, design engineering, EOC and tier 3 security teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of GTT’s SDN/NFV platforms and products

  • Continuous improvement of the existing products and platforms

  • Work with product management to create/maintain/execute the SDN/NFV roadmap

  • Last resort operational support for SDN/NFV platforms

  • Coach junior architects and engineers

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco)

  • SD-WAN technologies (Velocloud, Silverpeak, Fortinet)

  • Layer 3 Networking (BGP, OSPF)

  • Linux (RHEL & Debian based distributions)

  • Understanding advanced benchmarking and performance testing criteria on various x86 based network appliance/server hardware

  • SD-WAN products: Silver Peak, Velocloud, Fortinet

  • Security products: Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

High level of expertise required in the following:

  • Public Cloud Providers Networking: AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Virtualization technologies: VMware

  • Network as a Service vendors: Aruba, Meraki

  • SASE providers: Zscaler, Netskope

Hours/Travel/Shift:

Normal working hours. Sporadic travel required to attend events or vendor meetings.

  • Network Architecture and Design: Knowledge of the process, tools and methods for network architecture and design; ability to capture requirements and translate them into blueprints for wireline, wireless and hybrid network infrastructure.

  • Network Engineering: Knowledge of the processes, tools, and technologies for network engineering; ability to utilize and manage these for planning, designing, construction and support of wireline and wireless networks.

  • Telecom Platforms and Technologies: Knowledge of the architecture of various telecom platforms; ability to manage technologies and systems for providing telecommunications networks and services.

  • Telecom Product Development: Knowledge of telecom product development; ability to manage the process of enhancing existing or developing new telecom products and services.

  • Virtualization Services: Knowledge of the issues, regulations, business practices, and operations of virtualization services; ability to create and support a virtual environment that separates the physical infrastructure from the logical processing.
