Role Summary:
The Commerical Cost Manager will report to the Vice President, Supplier Management. The Commerical Cost Manager is responsible for driving best cost for medium to high-profile clients that require market level industry expertise and an in-depth understanding of the competitive telecommunications market. This role operates within the Supplier Management department which is responsible for the life cycle management of vendor agreements and supplier relationships. We provide GTT sales and network with vendor capabilities for service delivery at optimal cost.
Job Scope:
This role interacts with Sales, Sales Engineering and Supplier Management team as well as Quoting Management team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review Telecom Access costing for a specific set of clients and/or opportunities to be allocated according to the needs of the team to locations off-net to the GTT backbone and Metro networks.
- Day-to-Day relations with suppliers aiming to get competitive quotes on time for aligned with the Technical requirements for the end customer Product Solution
- Reviewing customer technical requirements with the supplier cost response, ensuring the most suitable supplier products were quoted
- Facilitate large bid reviews with suppliers ensuring GTT leads with bid with competitive costing.
- To negotiate prices (i.e. to seek reductions when quotes are confirmed prior to order, to obtain discounts on bundled deals) with suppliers
- Focus on timeliness of tail quotes, accuracy of quote and RFS dates, and balancing best tail price, delivery timescales and supplier quality.
- Assist in maintaining a database of quotes provided, to ensure we are able to estimate budgetary costs where speed is essential and to track same and/or similar requests coming in from different parties.
- Provide feed-back to Sales and presales teams regarding more specific project and technical details and information, and regarding Carrier commercial matters
- Assist with any additional administrative requirements (filing of historical data) when required
- Produces Reports on a timely manner to ensure that quotes are up-to-date and to measure performance of vendors
- Escalates any issues with the suppliers of the respective Supplier Manager as needed
- Reviews large client renewal opportunities with recommendations to Account Team
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Capability of processing big amounts of data incl. prices, products, technical details
- Capability of local telecom market analysis, supplier costing comparison
- 7+ years experience in a quoting/pricing telecom role with proven experience in negotiating large deals
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be self-motivated with good planning skills
- Advanced PC skills with Windows applications including but not limited to Excel and Word
- Strong document/database management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment
- Proven project management skills
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- Desire to learn new material in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Local Access Network Technologies and Transport technologies (SDH, MPLS, Ethernet, xDSL etc.)
- Knowledge of the relevant supplier markets, products and technology
