Role Summary:
The Tier 3 Compute team is responsible for the 3rd Line Technical Support of Managed Hosting solutions and platforms on a pan-European footprint. The team will be extended by 15 engineers with a wide range of responsibilities and areas of action:
•Manages and maintain all Hosting shared and dedicated platforms supporting customers and the business activity.
•Manages one of the largest cloud platforms in the world with more than 10 locations spread through 3 continents.
•The team works closely with Service Delivery, Project Management, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure the efficient, cost-effective support and maintenance of high-quality Hosting services to external and internal customers.
Main Responsibilities:
•Level 3 Support of Customer solutions and Shared GTT platforms as defined by Hosting Engineering and EPS.
•Manage and maintain Virtual platforms (shared and Dedicated Virtual Hosting).
•Manage and Maintain Linux systems (shared and dedicated)
•Manage and maintain MS environment
•Backup management on customer and GTT platforms.
•Testing of proposed changes on customer Hosting solutions and subsequent implementation of changes (changes ranging from new servers or services to OS upgrades etc.) in cooperation with Implementation Account Managers and the customer.
•Technical point of contact for Service Delivery, Sales Engineering, Project Management and In-Country Datacenter Teams for issues related to Hosting service design, implementation, test and delivery of customer solutions.
•Prompt identification of issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality.
•Pro-active diagnoses and fix of technical issues arising during provision of, and changes to, complex Hosting solutions.
•Pro-active escalation, follow-through and liaison with appropriate departments to resolve technical issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality. Creation of contingency plans to minimize such risks.
•Work in cooperation with other engineering teams deploying and developing new customer and GTT platforms.
•Production of quality documentation to reflect changes to solutions.
Essential Criteria:
•At least six (6) years of proven experience deploying, configuring and managing virtual and/or cloud infrastructures
•Proven experience in VMware is a must, KVM is an advantage.
•Previous experience with cloud management tools like Open Stack/Cloud Platform, Abiquo, Open stack, etc. is desirable.
•Scripting and automation experience is advantageous.
•Excellent awareness on storage technologies (NetApp in particular)
•Excellent awareness of Hosting Solution components (Firewalls, Server Hardware etc.)
•Technical understanding of other technologies (eg. IP, MPLS, VoIP)
•Excellent knowledge of large complex Hosting solutions.
•Experienced with ITIL framework.
•General knowledge of telecom and Hosting industry and standards.
•Excellent English language skills a must.
Desirable Criteria:
•Excellent awareness on Microsoft and Linux technologies and integration.
•Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database platforms
•Experience with HP blade systems is a plus.
•Excellent backup platforms awareness (Symantec NetBackup) is a plus.
•Previous use of Cramer and Siebel advantageous
•VMware VCP is a distinctive advantage.
•MCP or MCSE certifications is a plus
•Experience in public/ private cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS)
