Role Summary:
The Solutions Architecture Director manages an organization of Solutions Architects aligned to a sales channel and/or region. Solutions Architects are an integral part of customer-facing account teams, providing technical leadership and support throughout the sales process and customer lifecycle.
Job Scope/Supervision:
The Solutions Architecture Director interacts with corresponding leadership in Sales, Order Assurance, Service Delivery, Service Assurance, Product Management, Marketing, and Engineering. The position reports to the Vice President of Solutions Architecture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading a geographically dispersed team across multiple markets
- Recruiting, training, and retaining Solutions Architects
- Resource planning and workload balancing across teams and individuals
- Setting goals and objectives for direct reports
- Assessing team and individual performance and providing coaching/mentoring
- Identifying and implementing process improvements
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Telecommunications and/or IT
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales / Sales Engineering / Solutions Architecture
- Prior management experience
- Technical understanding of data networking architectures, standards, protocols, and equipment
- Technical understanding of network security
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Industry certifications, e.g. CCIE, CCNA, MCP, MCSE, etc.
- Understanding of modern hybrid IT architectures, private/public cloud computing and storage, server and network function virtualization, SDN, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
Hours/Travel/Shift:
- 40+ hours/week salaried + commissions.
- Travel ~10% (customer sites and event locations).

- Sales Proposals and Presentations: Knowledge of sales processes, tools, and techniques; ability to prepare and present formal recommendations for how the organization can meet the customer's needs.
- Solutions Development: Knowledge of solutions development principles, processes, techniques and tools; ability to assess customer needs and provide solutions for them.
