Role Summary:
As the Engineer, Core Operations you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the core backbone network 24x7.
Job Scope/Supervision:
The Engineer will be responsible for the complete life cycle of the incident management for GTT core platform. He should interact with clients, suppliers, vendors to ensure that the incidents are resolved efficiently and effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use network tools to monitor core network and customer services.
- Proactively initiate incident management process.
- Perform diagnostics on all network and customer faults.
- Coordinate NOC activities with local Field Operations and Vendor/Supplier representatives to diagnose and fix faults across the globe.
- Liaise with customer representatives to progress fault resolution.
- Provide mentorship and coaching.
- Report security incidents to the appropriate operations functions on detection.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Candidate must have bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably telecom or networking.
- Proficiency in English language (written and spoken)
- Industry certifications (CCNA-RS, CCNA-SP, JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-SP) are an advantage.
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience with network monitoring tools required for large ISP’s.
- Good IP, MPLS and routing knowledge (ISIS, BGP) in an ISP environment.
- Good Cisco, Juniper hardware and IOS/Junos knowledge
- Knowledge of routing and switching in a large ISP environment
