Your new role as Regional Senior Accountant - Mulgrave Private Hospital & Hobsons Healthcare (Werribee and Sydenham)

An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Accountant to support Mulgrave Private Hospital and Hobsons Healthcare. Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, the role provides high‑quality financial and management accounting support across both sites.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, month‑end processing and maintaining the integrity of financial data. Working closely with hospital finance teams and Healthe Care Central Finance, the role supports effective financial operations and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.

This is a permanent full‑time position (38 hours per week) based across Mulgrave Private Hospital and Hobsons Healthcare. The successful candidate will be required to work across both sites, as agreed with the Hospital CEOs and Commercial Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate financial and management accounting, including journals, reconciliations and month‑end close processes

• Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis in line with agreed timeframes

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and support effective internal controls

• Support the Commercial Manager with budgets, forecasts and operational planning

• Assist with asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking and inventory reconciliations

• Provide financial data and reporting support to hospital management and Central Finance

• Support and collaborate with finance colleagues across both hospital sites

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a financial or accounting environment

• Strong working knowledge of financial accounting, reconciliations and reporting

• High level of computer literacy, including advanced Excel skills

• Sound understanding of accounting systems and internal controls

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and sites

• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working in a private hospital or healthcare environment

• Knowledge of health funding models and health fund contracts

• Experience using large ERP systems and patient administration systems (e.g. WebPAS)

• CPA or CA qualified, or currently studying towards
