Your new role as Senior Clinical Coder

Working closely with the National Health Information Management & Revenue Assurance team, and NSW State Lead Health Information Manager, you will play a pivotal role in helping support a team of Clinical Coders based at Lingard Private Hospital.

Using your sound clinical coding experience in a wide range of casemix, you will mentor the team and guide work allocation whilst promoting a supportive and inclusive culture.

Essential criteria

• Advanced level of clinical knowledge and ability to work autonomously across a full range of clinical specialties

• Clinical Coding qualifications from Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) or equivalent, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management)

• Experience in relevant hospital systems eg WebPAS, and MS Office

• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated professional, effective communication with healthcare professionals and co-workers

• Ability to organise daily tasks, prioritise workload, and refer problems as necessary

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team displaying a ‘can do’ attitude

• Proven commitment to professional development and quality improvement

Desirable criteria

• 3-5 years clinical coding experience in similar coding casemix and a good understanding of Casemix/Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs)

• Previous leadership experience

• Previous experience in coding audit, mentoring, and coding education delivery

• Experience with Solventum codefinder software
