About you

The role of the Operations Assistant is to provide support to the Perioperative Leadership Team. The Operations Assistant is responsible in assisting with the transportation of equipment and patients throughout the Perioperative department, attending general cleaning duties and maintaining a safe environment under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the nursing staff to ensure the equipment is provided for smooth operating lists

• Transport patients to and from operating suite

• Assist with the positioning of the patient in the operating room

• Assist with the changeover routine between cases including mopping, rubbish and moving equipment

• Removal and management of all waste and linen

• Perform end of day cleaning tasks and set up rooms and equipment for the next day

• Check and replacement of supplies

• Carry out periodic cleaning duties as per work schedules

• Assist with the movement of stores, stock storage, packing and unpacking when required

Essential Criteria:

• Flexible work schedule, must be able to work morning and afternoon shifts as required

• Manual handling training to be completed

• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrate a customer focused mindset

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team displaying a ‘can do’ attitude

• Open and honest approach with the ability to maintain confidentiality

• WWCC, criminal record check and immunisation requirements must be met

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous experience in the role of operations assistant

• Previous experience in aged care / community care environment
