**9-12 month contract

The Contract - Field Engineer works closely with the local Project Manager, Lead Field Engineer, and account teams to assist in all aspects of deploying and supporting Itron network hardware and related systems. Candidate must have the ability to work independently, troubleshoot IPv4 and IPv6 network problems, remediate radio frequency (RF) link issues, and complete site surveys and coverage tests.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct site surveys

• Identify features/equipment found on utility poles

• Evaluate/measure physical clearances

• Apply RF propagation fundamentals

• Analyze the performance of RF equipment and suggest improvements

• Troubleshoot endpoint and network issues

• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and test equipment

• Submit time and expense reports accurately and on time

Required Skills & Experience:

• High school diploma required

• Minimum 2 years of work experience in a related field.

• Must possess a valid driving license and a clean driving record.

• Strong background and experience with RF and wireless technologies.

• A strong understanding of RF and propagation theory as well as experience with RF test equipment and tools such as spectrum and network analyzers, power meters, sweep testers.

• Experience with RF propagation software.

• Demonstrated the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot various electronic and RF systems.

• Experience with GIS mapping software such as MapInfo, Google Earth, Lorenzo maps/queries, and QuickBase.

• Experience with GPS and coordinate data.

• Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills; the ability to directly interface with customers and vendors; maintain a professional appearance; and work independently.

• Work independently and multitask with minimum supervision.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Secondary education in a related field, military training, or equivalent work experience.

• Experience and knowledge of gas, water, and electric utility meters and related technologies.

• Strong PC skills with software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Analytical problem-solving skills.

Travel: Daily travel within the province of New Brunswick. Overnight travel will be required, at times.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium-sized components. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and the ability to lift weight or exert force up to 50 pounds. This is a safety-sensitive role.
