Itron, a technology leader in the energy and smart grid sector, is seeking a Staff Systems Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and execution of test strategies that ensure our products meet the highest quality standards and deliver value to our customers.
The Staff Systems Test Engineer will use systematic testing approaches to debug software products, develop and maintain quality standards, and create test plans that support reliable solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Development of software/firmware/hardware-integrated solution test plans, test designs, test objectives, and test cases, based on use cases and technical requirements
Identify, analyze and document defects, questionable behavior, errors and inconsistencies with application functionality, output, online screens and content.
Development of automated test solutions using software testing tools and practices.
Collaborate with software development engineers in product design, code reviews, walkthroughs and product lifecycle inspections.
Problem investigation, report test results and perform analysis
Respond to inquiries about technical support functions and operation of software applications.
Verify documentation and on-line help content.
Participate in knowledge transfer sessions for Services, Support Center and other staff.
Work is Hybrid type position between remote and on site Itron facility in Raleigh, NC.
Required Skills & Experience:

Experience: 2-5 years applicable professional experience preferred
Education: Bachelor's degree in related fields (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Technology) is required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong analytical and problem- solving skills
Experience with complex multi component solution integration and test experience
Effective communication and professional workplace communication and multi-site collaboration
Familiarity with various SW development methods (Waterfall, Agile, Continuous Integration.)
Formal past use of Test /results tracking systems (ie. Microsoft ADS/TFS, Jira, etc.)
Efficient time management skills
Previous related energy industry work is a plus
Automated Scripting experience Python, Java, or similar
Exposure to IP Networking, IPV6 and debug (i.e. Wireshark, etc.)
Familiarity/exposure to both Windows and/or Linux server environments
Webservices /WSDL familiarity is a plus
Experience using relational databases (Oracle, SQL server, MySQL, and scripting)
Familiarity with Cloud technologies (i.e. Microsoft Azure, AWS, etc.)
Exposure to cellular technology or RF network technologies
