Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer
Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer to work mid-shift US time and be a key member of Itron’s Global Operations Center. You will support business-critical applications, networks, and their availability. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 7+ years of experience in Java application support on Linux platforms, deep knowledge of 24/7 network operations with strong communication and technical skills and the ability to work with both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
· 24x7 Monitoring and Support:
o Monitor and maintain the performance and availability of applications, networks, and Linux servers.
o Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
· Application Support:
o Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, particularly in Linux environments.
o Work with development and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless application operations.
o Manage application deployments and updates, ensuring optimal performance and security.
o Participate in Changes related to configuration, application upgrade, Certificates renewal, etc.
o Manage Linux based applications, ensuring performance, and reliability.
o Automate repetitive tasks using shell scripting or other tools.
o Perform system administration tasks like user management and system monitoring.
· Network Operations:
o Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain network stability.
o Collaborate on network changes and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption.
· Customer Interaction:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers regarding application, network, and Linux system issues.
o Communicate effectively to resolve issues and provide updates.
o Build strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction.
· Incident Management:
o Lead incident resolution, coordinating with various teams as necessary.
o Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement corrective actions.
o Document and report incidents in line with company policies.
· Continuous Improvement:
o Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and tools.
o Contribute to the development of SOPs and best practices.
o Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
Qualifications:
· 7+ years of experience in Java application support on Linux platform with 24X7 network operations center
· Strong Linux skills, including shell, python scripting and troubleshooting.
· Proficient in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network monitoring tools.
· Familiarity with ITIL and incident management practices.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong communication abilities.
Working Conditions:
· Must be willing to work in a 24x7 environment, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
· Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.
· Hours will be weekdays, 4 days on, 3 days off, 2pm-12am CST US time (10 hr shift)
