Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and experienced UX Manager to lead our design efforts for web and mobile enterprise applications. In this role, you will manage a growing team of UX designers while remaining a hands-on contributor. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and executive stakeholders to define design strategies that deliver intuitive, impactful solutions for field workers and enterprise users. This position requires a balance of leadership, strategic thinking, and deep design expertise—all while embracing Itron’s values of being customer-centric, authentic, accountable, agile, collaborative, and innovative.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and Mentor: Manage and develop a team of UX designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, authenticity, and continuous learning.

• Hands-on Design: Create high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and user interfaces for complex enterprise applications, ensuring designs are customer-focused and innovative.

• Design Strategy: Define and maintain the UX roadmap, driving accountability and consistency across all Itron platforms while remaining agile to evolving business needs.

• User Research: Oversee and participate in research activities to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points, ensuring solutions deliver measurable impact for customers.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to integrate user feedback and ensure technical feasibility of design solutions, building trust and collaboration across teams.

• Process Optimization: Improve design workflows from discovery and journey mapping to usability testing and final hand-off, leveraging innovative approaches to enhance efficiency.

• Advocacy: Champion user-centered design principles and accessibility standards across the organization, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience managing or leading a UX design team, with a track record of mentoring and improving team performance through authentic leadership.

• 5+ years of portfolio showcasing hands-on design work for web and mobile enterprise applications, ideally in complex or industrial environments.

• Proficiency in Figma or similar design and prototyping tools.

• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, research methodologies, and accessibility standards.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present design vision and translate business requirements into actionable design tasks.

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective collaboration with engineering teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 2+ years experience in the utilities, energy, or industrial technology sectors.

• Knowledge of enterprise-level design systems and responsive design principles.

• Background in managing UX for SaaS or mission-critical applications.
