Role Description

Create high-quality digital experiences and creative assets that bring Koala’s products, campaigns and brand to life across web and digital channels. This role combines strong visual design craft with motion, digital production, AI-assisted creative workflows and practical web design skills.

The Digital Designer will collaborate across design, marketing, engineering, 3D and content teams, helping turn creative direction and business requirements into polished, production-ready digital work. The role is suited to a multidisciplinary designer who is comfortable moving between website design, motion graphics, asset preparation and light UI work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design visually polished digital experiences across Koala’s website, landing pages, product pages, campaign pages and other customer-facing digital touchpoints.

  • Translate creative direction, campaign requirements and content into clear, engaging digital layouts.

  • Apply practical web and e-commerce design principles including hierarchy, content flow, responsive behaviour and clear calls to action.

  • Create motion graphics, animations and lightweight interactive content for web, campaigns and product launches.

  • Prepare, resize, crop, optimise and export digital assets for web and other digital channels.

  • Work with photography, product renders, 3D assets and campaign imagery to create production-ready creative.

  • Comfortable using AI-assisted creative tools and workflows.

  • Experiment with emerging creative technologies, automation and internal tooling to improve production quality and efficiency.

  • Use internal scripts, CLI tools and documented technical workflows to process and prepare digital assets.

  • Create light UI and component-based design work where required, working within existing design systems and patterns.

  • Ensure designs and assets are appropriately prepared for responsive implementation across mobile and desktop.

  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, developers, marketers, 3D artists and other stakeholders throughout delivery.

  • Support implementation through design review, asset QA and resolution of visual issues.

  • Manage multiple design and production priorities while maintaining a high standard of craft and attention to detail.

  • Help improve Koala’s digital production standards, workflows and ways of working.

Ideal background

  • Relevant experience in digital design, visual design, web design, motion design or a related discipline, typically two to four years.

  • A portfolio demonstrating strong visual design craft across web, digital campaigns and customer-facing experiences.

  • Strong practical experience using Figma and Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent design tools.

  • Experience designing responsive websites across mobile and desktop.

  • Experience creating motion graphics and animation using After Effects or similar tools.

  • Strong image editing, compositing and digital production skills.

  • Experience preparing and optimising imagery and other assets for web environments.

  • Experience working with photography, product imagery, 3D renders or campaign creative.

  • Good understanding of typography, layout, composition, hierarchy and visual storytelling.

  • Practical understanding of web asset formats, resolution, compression and responsive imagery.

  • Comfortable experimenting with new tools, workflows and emerging creative technologies.

  • Comfortable using a terminal and running documented CLI commands or scripts; coding ability is not required.

  • Working understanding of responsive web design, HTML, CSS and component-based interfaces is highly regarded.

  • Experience working within an established design system is highly regarded.

  • Exposure to e-commerce, retail or other fast-moving digital environments is highly regarded.
