We are seeking a driven professional to join our team at PerkinElmer based on one of our client sites. As a member of the life cycle equipment management team, you will develop, implement, and manage the processes for planning, acquiring, and deploying new scientific instruments and equipment.

You will interact with the client managers, scientists and other users of the equipment; technicians and engineers in the PerkinElmer team; facility management, and vendors and equipment manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate technical evaluation and other aspects of the equipment installation.
  • Provide cost estimates for equipment installation and asset adaptation.
  • Identify equipment to be replaced and initiate their decommissioning.
  • Keep track of equipment delivery and update financial systems.
  • Plan installation with vendor and on-site resources
  • Ensure post-installation waste disposal is handled in line with our sustainability policy.
  • Co-ordinate training of users and technicians
  • Ensure update of our CMMS, including establishing instrument criticality and preventive maintenance policy
  • Communicate equipment changes to relevant teams.
  • Drive process development and improvement and train and support other team members in above mentioned tasks
  • Support scientists in improving effectiveness of investment process by suggesting re-use or redeployment of existing equipment or instruments based on equipment utilization data.
  • Support scientists in identifying investment candidates based on instruments or equipment nearing end-of-life or with increasing maintenance costs.

Qualification & Experience

In order to be successful you will:

  • Be organized, driven and self-starter.
  • Have good communication skills appropriate to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have a technical mindset – interested in instruments and lab environment.
  • Be able to create structure, deal with ambiguity and drive process improvements.
  • Confident with IT systems and learning new ones.

Preferred experience could include:

  • Project Management / Coordination
  • Commissioning equipment
  • Experience of laboratories and familiarity with laboratory equipment
  • Experience of Total Productive Maintenance in general and Early Equipment Management in particular
  • Work in with regulatory standards, such as GMP, in the life sciences sector
