Purpose
PerkinElmer is seeking a VP Product Line, Global. This role will be responsible for the Product Line P&L by developing and executing a market-back, customer-centric global product and aftermarket (consumables and services) strategy for the Product Line. This position plays a critical role in advancing our market presence, increasing profitability, and ensuring customer satisfaction. By shaping the direction of industry-leading R&D and setting a clear innovation roadmap, this role will help PerkinElmer continue to push boundaries in analytical instrumentation and solutions. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive profitable growth via product innovation, market share expansion, revenue growth and cost initiatives in procurement and supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Manage P&L for the Product Line: Manage business in a very hands-on manner to hit growth and profitability targets. Optimize product profitability through setting and implementing price strategy, and driving sourcing, procurement and operations initiatives.
- Develop Product and Aftermarket (Consumables and Services) Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive product and aftermarket portfolio strategy (including R&D strategy) that aligns with PerkinElmer's business objectives and growth targets for the Product Line. Adapt portfolio based on regional needs, voice-of-customer insights, and competitive positioning. Identify new growth opportunities such as partnerships and M&A.
- Implement Go-To-Market Approach: Ensure that the sales teams are enabled with tools and insights to successfully sell the product line offerings. Keen focus on developing quantified value propositions and pricing strategy. Provide competitive insights, sharpen product messaging, and adjust go-to-market tactics based on sales performance metrics.
- Demand Generation: Deliver on creation of sales funnel that ensures delivery of the financial targets.
- Market Analysis: Continuously monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify new opportunities and optimize the existing product offerings.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of product managers and application scientists to drive product development, marketing, and sales initiatives. Create a culture of collaboration, accountability, performance and execution focus.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept to end-of-life, ensuring products meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards. Ensure success of new product launches by driving the commercialization playbook through a structured process.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including leadership within the Analytical Solutions and Customer Enablement Global Business Line, R&D and the Production and Quality Global Support Services (GSS) organizations to help define product roadmaps and drive successful product launches.
- Customer Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to gather feedback, address issues, and enhance product features.
- Product support: Manage the resolution of product issues within production, customer, and service escalation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant scientific or engineering field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management and leadership in a high tech products or scientific instrumentation industry, with a focus on commercialization.
- Ability to travel, as necessary (30-60%)
