Senior Purchasing Specialist

Responsibilities
Location Gaithersburg, Maryland US Job ID REQ-057175Responsible for merchandise selection and purchase including type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix and promotion for one or more merchandise categories. Monitors and assists with implementation of merchandise plans. Creates and implements plans to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, cost of promotion, and markdowns for categories managed. Selects and evaluates vendors and negotiates product cost. Ensures accurate support documentation for orders, advertising, and samples. Coordinates with merchandise allocation/replenishment department and store personnel. May also have design (private label) responsibility.
Job Responsibilities:
· Ensure that all orders are accurately processed and in a timely manner for all assigned customer business groups.
· Develop of work instructions and SOP’s to deliver a standardized level of support
· Support training of new team members
· Resolve any missing PO numbers and follow up on any back orders.
· Closely monitor all invoices and process within the agreed time frame. This will include invoice discrepancies/credit note processing/process documents/goods receipting and approve/reject/code invoices.
· Responsibility to challenge cost saving/cost avoidance & obtain bulk quotes to maximize savings, pricing & stock availability.
· Capture cost savings and cost avoidance to align with strategic sourcing and account savings initiatives
· Provide cross regional support to other remote sites as required
· Suggest continuous improvement of the purchasing team ways of working
· Ensure users/customers are kept informed of progression & status of their orders.
· Use agreed procurement systems to process customer orders.
· Keep all orders directed to customer preferred suppliers. Follow customer procedures and challenge users going outside this policy.
· Single point of contact for all purchasing enquiries.
· Provide relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the PerkinElmer management team on the procurement service provided to the customer groups.
· Identify opportunities to give time back to science and capture evidence to align with account initiatives
· Serve as delegated authority for the Procurement Analyst Manager, as assigned
· Primary vendor liaison
· Escalate performance concerns to direct manager.
· Monitor existing processes and adjust as need to avoid challenges for Purchasing process and Purchasing team members.
· Coordinate onboarding and training for new hires.
· Monitor order volume monthly and shift support responsibilities where needed.
· Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure best experience with our service for the end-user.
· Assist in creating and delivering service presentations to the customer.
· Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment
Support report generation for any functional aspects related to purchasing functions, Team ordering data. This may include but is not limited in assistance with Purchasing Service presentations.
• Support the Procurement Analyst Manager in the execution of the procurement strategy, supporting team members, and reporting for the customer account
• Troubleshoot invoice issues; serve as a subject matter expert for peers.
• Meet with customer business groups to deliver service presentations and respond to questions
• Ensure that all orders are accurately and efficiently processed for assigned customer business groups.
• Lead projects or initiatives, with Procurement Analyst Manager guidance.
- Use agreed-upon procurement systems to track and process customer orders.

Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or similar with 1+ years of purchasing or similar administrative experience
OR
· Associate Degree in Business Administration or similar with 3+ years of purchasing or similar administrative experience
OR
· High School Diploma and 5+ years of purchasing or similar administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications:
· Prior purchasing experience in a customer-facing scientific environment.
· Prior experience working with vendor representatives
· Strong IT and Analytical Skills
· Knowledge of databases and purchase ordering systems
· Bachelor Degree
Working Environment:
· Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
· Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
· The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
· Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
· Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
· Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
· Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
· Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
· May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.
The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $80,000 to $100,000 The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
