Director – Master Data Management (MDM)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Enterprise MDM Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the enterprise MDM vision, strategy, and roadmap for Product and Customer domains.
  • Establish EBX as the authoritative system of record and ensure consistent adoption across business units.
  • Align MDM strategy with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.

2. Run Operations & Service Excellence

  • Own MDM run operations globally, including SLAs, KPIs, service quality, and escalations.
  • Ensure operational stability while enabling speed and agility for business change.
  • Drive reduction of manual work, exceptions, and recurring operational issues.

3. Data Governance Leadership

  • Design and institutionalize a formal enterprise Data Governance model.
  • Establish and chair the Data Governance Council, with senior business and IT representation.
  • Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship, policies, standards, and RACI models.
  • Ensure governance is pragmatic, scalable, and business-aligned—not bureaucratic.

4. Data Quality & Executive Dashboards

  • Own MDM and Data Quality (DQ) dashboards for Customer and Product domains.
  • Establish baselines, targets, and executive reporting for data quality metrics.
  • Drive measurable and sustained improvements in data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

5. Customer MDM Transformation

  • Lead completion of EBX platform upgrades and modernization.
  • Improve Salesforce data quality by redesigning SAP → Salesforce Account data flows.
  • Enable bulk-load and mass account creation across MDM, SAP, and Salesforce.
  • Implement legal-entity hierarchies for strategic customer accounts.
  • Resolve major business pain points, including re-implementation of Push-to-SAP.

6. Product MDM Transformation

  • Establish and scale a Product MDM Center of Excellence (COE) in Pune.
    • Hire, mentor, and lead PMDM teams
    • Initial on-site leadership presence to establish operating model
  • Drive tooling and process enhancements (e.g., Storm, local part creation).
  • Lead updates to product documentation, forms, workflows, and lifecycle controls.
  • Strengthen governance for ITC, COO oversight, HS/HTC, and ECCN compliance.

7. Data Model & Architecture Governance

  • Lead enterprise data model rationalization aligned with eCommerce, CPQ, and Salesforce.
  • Eliminate redundancy, inconsistency, and data duplication across systems.
  • Ensure clean, canonical master data integration across SAP, Salesforce, CPQ, and downstream platforms.

8. Transformation, Simplification & Technical Debt Reduction

  • Identify and eliminate historical design flaws and technical debt.
  • Drive modernization of integrations, workflows, and controls.
  • Ensure documentation, auditability, and compliance are embedded by design.

9. Executive Business Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Sales, Product, Supply Chain, Finance, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Translate strategic business needs into scalable MDM and governance solutions.
  • Influence decision-making across functions without relying on direct authority.
  • Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 15–20+ years of experience in MDM, Data Governance, or Enterprise Data Platforms
  • Proven leadership of large-scale Product and Customer MDM programs
  • Strong experience with TIBCO EBX or comparable enterprise MDM platforms
  • Deep exposure to SAP, Salesforce, CPQ, and enterprise integrations
  • Track record of leading global, cross-functional transformation initiatives
  • Experience building and scaling teams, COEs, and vendor ecosystems

Preferred Characteristics

  • Deep functional and technical understanding of MDM from strategy to execution for large & complex organization
  • Effective stakeholder management, particularly with Sales leadership, Operations, Procurement and global IT counterparts.
  • Proactive, hands-on leader with a continuous improvement mindset and strong sense of ownership.
  • Capable of balancing day-to-day operational needs with long-term streamlining.
  • Strong communicator who can simplify complex technical topics for business audiences and lead discussions across functions.
