Fellow , Engineering - CAD

Position Summary
The Fellow of CAD Engineering is accountable for the strategy, delivery, and technical excellence of PTC’s CAD team in Cambridge. Reporting to VP Engineering - CAD, this leader combines strategic direction with hands-on engagement. They guide architecture, and dive into design or code when needed to keep solutions robust, performant, and aligned with PTC’s SaaS transformation. The Fellow will collaborate across PTC’s global engineering organization, ensuring consistency, re-use, and alignment with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute engineering strategy for assigned CAD domains, aligned with product vision and PTC’s SaaS roadmap.

  • Remain technically engaged: review core designs, prototype new approaches, profile and debug performance-critical code.

  • Build, lead and develop a team; fostering inclusion, innovation, and accountability.

  • Partner with Product, UX, Architecture, and other engineering sites to translate customer requirements into scalable solutions that fuel innovation for our customers and the market.

  • Oversee design and delivery of geometry kernels, modelling services, and cloud-enabled components.

  • Promote modern engineering practices: CI/CD, DevOps, observability, automated testing, and secure coding.

  • Represent Cambridge engineering in cross-functional forums and with key customers or partners.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in professional software engineering,

  • Proven background in CAD, PLM, or 3D/geometry-intensive products.

  • Advanced knowledge of C++ and object-oriented design; able to contribute to or review complex code.

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams and large-scale SaaS or microservice systems.
