Job title: Principal Mechanical Test Engineer

About the role

 

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join a high performing team of multi-disciplinary structural engineers including subject matter experts in delivering critical test & evaluation of complex maritime structures.

 

Currently, we are seeking positive Mechanical Test Engineer with demonstrable experience in one or more of the subject areas listed below to be based in the Edinburgh area.

 

You will work alongside engineers to deliver testing of submarine and surface ship structures, assessing their performance within the demanding environments that the platforms will be subjected to throughout their operational life.

 

In addition you will also support other members of the team in the field of Structural Analysis and Non-Destructive Evaluation.

 

All of the above is part of being integral to delivering mission critical solutions for our customers in commercial and defence sectors in the UK and worldwide.

 

What I will be doing.

 

• The Mechanical Test Engineer will be acting as the overall technical lead/project manager being responsible for time, cost and quality of team and individual work.
• You’ll be responsible for the production of timely and proactive engineering outputs, through attending and contributing to meetings and other communication methods, both formal and informal, as required.
• The Mechanical Test Engineer will be responsible for the definition and delivery of technical work plans, resources and tasks, working with the project manager on schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and constraints.
• You will ensure effective governance to demonstrate that the technical solution meets appropriate regulatory, legal, safety and engineering standards.
• The Mechanical Test Engineer will fully capture and understand the customers’ requirements and providing innovative solutions to customers’ problems.
• You will lead bidding activities.

• Fatigue Analysis and testing
• Fracture Mechanics
• Materials testing including data collection and analysis
