The role

As an Application Software Engineer you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, you would join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Engineering Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state of the art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target.

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager, you will design, implement & test the application software on various QTS projects relating to unmanned air vehicles, aerial targets, surface/marine targets and related technologies. Day to day you will be responsible for:

• Application software design & test.
• Detailed application real time software design to support both new and legacy products.
• Production and maintenance of design records in accordance with internal design procedures
• Fault diagnosis
• Provide technical support for internal and external customers.
• Provide input to the company’s continuous improvement program

Essential experience of the Application Software Engineer:

• Experience with real time Applications
• C# & C++ programming & test within the visual studio environment
• .net programming
• GUI development
• Version control
