The role

As a Platforms Engineer you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. As a member of the UK Shared Services team, provide experience and capability to the IT Services function. Delivering planned and requested activities or responding to adhoc requirements in order to effectively deliver high quality services to our customers.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Support the UK Head of IT Services and the UK Shared Services function in the delivery of IT Platform and Domain Services to QinetiQ
  • Provide operational, service support during incident and problem management activities related directly to their area of expertise
  • Develop, plan and assist in the deployment of new technologies and enhancements to existing systems · Deliver improvements via planned activities within their area of knowledge
  • Assist in the service transition of new technologies and services into operational support.
  • Assist in developing solutions and services aligned to QinetiQ’s strategies and requirements.
  • Maintain a level of knowledge on new technologies sufficient to understand their applicability to our customer base and to implement and support them, if appropriate.

Essential experience of the Platforms Engineer:

  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO and other domain service functions
  • Experience in administering Linux Operating Systems including CentOS and Redhat advantageous
  • Knowledge and practical application experience around IT Security Standards
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001
  • Ability to engage with a cross-section of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
