We are looking for an Operations Lead to oversee our maintenance work conducted on our Benbecula site in the Hebrides in Scotland. The role would suit a candidate who is looking for an opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills while providing the essential Line Management function for an established team primarily comprising of, but not limited to Mechanical, Grounds and Estate Fabric Maintenance support focused individuals.

The role:

The Operations Lead will be providing a high level of operations coordination, delegation and support and will be organising maintenance, managing contractors against KPIs, overseeing suppliers, holding planning meetings and audits as well of an array of different facility and operational tasks across the Property Operations Assets area of QinetiQ.

You will work across a range of different small and large-scale projects and will be working on our base in Benbecula and will have the opportunity to learn new skills and develop into and array of different areas across QinetiQ. Possibly requirement for travel across the Hebrides sites including St Kilda and occasional deployment to other QinetiQ sites.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Regularly liaising with the Site Group Leader and Project Managers to ensure that the team complement and competencies meet the business demands.
  • Being the primary Point of Contact for the pastoral and administrative requirement of the team members.
  • Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings
  • Supporting the site’s delivery of budget through prioritising work, reconciling conflicting demands, reviewing and revising timing of work to agreed deadlines through regular scheduling tasks via demand and supply planning meetings.
  • Fulfil the site role expectations of the Site Asbestos Responsible Person, and additional AP duties in accordance with core trade skills.
  • Ensuring all relevant site stakeholders have clarity on availability of facilities required to deliver the Range operational output.

Essential experience of the Operations Lead:

  • Trade qualifications relevant to building services such as Mechanical NVQ level 3 or apprenticeship and 5+years’ experience in trade area.
  • Strong building services technical background, able to provide advice, assurance and best practice
  • Sound experience with dealing in subcontractor services (scope, cost and delivery).
