Opportunities could be based in either Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne
Boasting the largest team of highly respected and experienced Explosive Ordnance (EO) acquisition personnel, our consultants work in close partnership with our clients and are embedded within a vibrant team, working on multi-million dollar projects that are at the cutting edge of innovation in Defence munitions and the creation of sovereign defence capability.
We are looking to engage with Commercial and Procurement professionals of varying levels of seniority to join our team and provide Commercial & Procurement services to the Commonwealth. In addition to the skills and knowledge listed below, the more senior roles may be involved with team development, mentoring, documentation and client engagement.
Typical Commercial or Procurement Professionals are responsible for:
- The provision of commercial and business advice on industry engagement and contract pricing and industry investment matters to support the development of CoA procurements.
- Leading complex procurement activities and developing procurement and tender documentation
- Providing support in the review of commercial contracts across the Defence Capability Life Cycle (CLC)
- Managing and monitoring core elements and staff associated with the commercial aspects of the program
- Managing program organisational interdependencies including; Defence capability and benefits management, CLC and management control, stakeholder management, organisational governance, financial management, resource management and risk management
- Developing, implementing and sharing strategies and tools for the continuous planning, monitoring and evaluation of contracts, including identification and resolution of risks and issues, benefits realisation, and project impact and quality measures, to ensure successful project delivery
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Knowledge of ASDEFCON contracts including contract changes, review of contract deliverables, management of contractor performance and contract negotiation
- Providing accurate and timely commercial advice and guidance to delegates and stakeholders.
- Assuring compliance with relevant departmental procurement policies.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks.
- Preparing internal briefs, approval submissions and reports.
- Coordinating project representation at key contract meetings.
- In-depth knowledge and experience to undertake tasks of increasing complexity, including the ability to consider a problem, derive a range of potential solutions from existing possibilities and decide on the best course of action to reach a cost effective outcome
- High-level analytical skills and the ability to process factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations
- Demonstrated sound judgement and business acumen, with a focus on results
- Effective communications skills, presenting information clearly and in an appropriate style to the audience
- Ability to 'get to the heart of' the client's problem and identify additional work opportunities
