The Role

As a Project Manager, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary and will be responsible for the delivery of High Hazard activities working closely with the Operations and Engineering teams. This includes testing and processing of live weapons and energetics. The scope of the IDT includes the delivery of Weapon Services across the Land Ranges, Environmental Test Centre (ETC) and Fort Halstead. In this role, you will play a crucial role supporting the front line of the UK's national security and Armed Forces, working to help protect the nation.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Develop and maintain positive engagement with project customers, partners and suppliers
• Deliver project outputs, to agreed baseline (customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, cash and sales)
• Ensure project members operate in line with the Operating Framework & functional competency management requirements; and have appropriate personal objectives recorded in the QinetiQ performance management system
• Maintain forecasts (both financial and resource demand signal) for sales and delivery which reflects the up-to-date expectations for the work
• Apply governance requirements (including lifecycle, project & independent reviews as appropriate) for foundation sales and delivery work
  

This role is full-time, with an expectation of 2-3 days a week at the Fort Halstead site. There will also be travel to the Environmental Test Centre at Shoeburyness on occasion for test and trials.

Essential experience of the Project Manager:

• Previous demonstrable experience in projects, programmes, portfolios or P3 function and successfully delivering complex projects
• Experience delivering projects to external customers; being able to identify, plan and implement actions to positively engage parties with an interest in, or influence over, the project outputs
• A background working in the maritime or defence industry is preferred but not essential

Qualifications for the Project Manager:

• APM qualified, or hold an equivalent recognised Project Management qualification
