Join us as a Planning & Maintenance Manager at our Boscombe Down site, which is a Ministry of Defence RAF base, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and many of the industry’s most brilliant minds. The airfield and its infrastructure has been operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence since 2001.
Located on the outskirts of Salisbury and Amesbury in Wiltshire, the over one thousand acre site features two operational runways - including the longest military runway in the UK. There are extensive facilities to undertake a wide range of test, evaluation, demonstration and consultancy programmes. It is also the home of the world’s first test pilot school (ETPS) that provides world class training for flight test professionals of both civilian and military customers.
The Role
As a Planning & Maintenance Manager you will report and deputise to the Head of Facilities Management Group Lead and you'll have a role out of the ordinary.
Day-to-day, you will oversee planning of the site’s property operations resource capabilities to ensure effective and efficient implementation of planned, reactive, demand and corrective tasks across the designated footprint.
You will also:
- Develop monthly pre-planned maintenance (PPM) implementation plans for site; including allocation of appropriate, competent resources in conjunction with delivery leaders and aligned to internal, industry, regulatory and statutory compliance standards
- Co-ordinate with Property Operations Managers, Delivery Leads and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the plans and adjustment of priorities to meet business needs
- Assess and define our property operations resource and competency needs for the site; including complementary contractor framework and the development of strategies to minimise outsourcing
- Reporting on compliance and maintenance delivery performance to include duties such as F-gas, asbestos and water management following internal compliance processes and escalating problems, issues and risks, as necessary
- Manage compliance, maintenance efficiency, effectiveness, lifecycle and financial spend; driving continual improvement and optimised delivery performance
- Engage with and monitor key contractors to ensure priority, delivery performance, resource and competency requirements are established and maintained
This role is full time and based fully on-site. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:30.
Essential experience of the Planning & Maintenance Manager:
- Significant scheduling or planning experience
- Engineering or facilities management / maintenance background
- IOSH / NEBOSH awareness
Qualifications of the Planning & Maintenance Manager:
- Knowledge and appropriate qualifications gained through relevant training, with an experience of delivering FM Service with the ability to be appointed as an Authorised Person in future
- Must have a valid driving license
