QinetiQ is expanding at a rapid pace and as such, we are looking for an Engineering Support Officer, based in Sydney, on a casual contract.

This is an entry level developmental role, supporting specified projects in the Engineering & Technical Services Sydney Program, working closely with engineers and technicians.

Key responsibilities as an Engineering Support Officer will include:

  • Supporting R&D and Engineering tasks by designing, developing and testing embedded systems under supervision
  • Assisting in the Test & Evaluation processes and subsequent data analysis
  • Working on site at Waverton / South Eveleigh /Rockdale
  • Supporting the wider team with projects as and when needed (including developing plans, spreadsheets, performing research, providing administrative support etc.)
  • Effective Engineering Support
  • Provide meaningful contributions to system design, development and testing
  • Valuable contributions to team environment and culture

To be successful in the role of Engineering Support Officer, you will need to bring with you:

  • Credibility, integrity and high personal ethical standards that align with QinetiQ values
  • Good communication/writing skills, comfortable with collaborating in a dynamic team environment, and positive attitude to learning and personal development
  • Experienced and competent user of the Microsoft Suite including MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerBI
  • University student in the penultimate year of their studies
  • Experience with embedded systems and microprocessor software development (including competency in C/C++ and Python programming languages)
  • Electrical and Mechanical Engineering design experience, such as development in Altium and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience working in an engineering/technical and/or Defence businesses

Candidates will be required to obtain an Australian Government secret clearance which will require Australian citizenship. QinetiQ conducts pre-employment screening, including but not limited to identity verification and police checks, for all preferred candidates
