We are currently looking for a Principal Radio Frequency Engineer (RF) join to our Major Service Provider division, based preferably in either Brisbane or Canberra, however we will consider other locations for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will be an electrical/electronic engineer or experienced scientist with background in applied RF hazard management to work in the field of Electromagnetic Explosive Hazard (EEH) identification and management in support of Guided Weapons and Explosive ordnance (GWEO) testing and certification.

As a Principal RF Engineer, you will be providing specialist engineering and technical advice to Explosive Materiel Branch. Assisting with tasks such as:

  • Develop and/or review technical assessments related to the EEH of Explosive Ordnance
  • Plan and supervise EEH trials
  • Develop and/or verify EEH procedures and publications to support continued technical integrity
  • Provide specialist engineering and technical advice (including safe separation information) to the Australian Defence Organisation on EEH issues for EO natures and related materiel
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as Directorate of Ordnance Safety, Directorate of Explosive Ordnance Services and Base Armament Managers.

To be successful in the role of Principal RF Engineer you will need to bring with you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in either science or engineering
  • An extensive amount of experience in similar roles
  • Proven experience successfully dealing with multiple key stakeholders
  • Previous experience providing technical leadership
  • A reliable, resourceful and team-oriented approach to work
  • Strong verbal and written communication

Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance. QinetiQ conducts pre-employment screening, including but not limited to identity verification and police checks, for all preferred candidates.
