QinetiQ are now accepting applications for this critical strategic position within our Growth team for our Australian Sector. Reporting to the Capability Assurance Campaign Director, the Senior Capture Manager – GWEO will be responsible for developing new business opportunities associated with the development of a sovereign Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance design and manufacturing capability. Ideally based in Canberra, Melbourne or Adelaide but other locations will also be considered for the right candidate.
As Senior Capture Manager you will be accountable to:
- Exercise a high degree of autonomy and independence, lead cross-functional teams, including technical teams from other Business Units in Australia and the UK
- Take independent charge of developing and executing a comprehensive GWEO strategy aligned with Group and Sector strategies. Exhibit a deep understanding of efforts across the GWEO domain to expand our presence and capture market share within the GWEO segment, specifically targeting domestic GWEO T&E requirements
- Exercise excellent management skills, leadership and soft-power attributes to identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities aligning with company objectives, emphasising a robust pipeline of GWEO related projects. Showcase high technical expertise and experience within the Defence domains, commensurate with a former ADF Officer or Defence industry member, in shaping the future of the services.
- Foster and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, other mechanisms of Government, and other GWEO entities. Independently and actively engaging in networking and collaboration to position the company as the trusted partner for capability assurance services.
- Independently and proactively manage and nurture existing client relationships, focussing on client satisfaction, retention, and protection of our current business footprint. Simultaneously explore avenues for growth within these accounts.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and Government policies affecting the GWEO and Defence sectors.
- Take the lead in preparing and submitting proposals, bids and tenders, overseeing the entire process, including large matrixed cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams from initiation to closure. Exercise strong leadership skills in accordance with company frameworks and best practices to deliver against the Shipley process.
To be successful in the role of Senior Capture Manager you will need to bring with you:
- Previous military experience or significant experience in the Defence industry (Former ADF engineering Officer with Explosive Ordnance, Guided Weapons or T&E background will be considered favourably).
- A degree in engineering and/or business, or demonstrated excellent management skills, leadership, and soft-power attributes commensurate with senior management experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and business acumen as either the customer or capability deliverer.
- Excellent knowledge of the Defence Capability Lifecycle and accompanying frameworks.
- Experience within the Defence budgeting and capability development lifecycle.
- Strong client and staff engagement, relationship, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead matrixed, cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams up to 15 individuals for extensive periods under high pressure conditions to meet well defined deadlines (Defence command) will be considered favourably
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically with a focus on short term delivery and long term growth of GWEO and wider Defence opportunities
- A high level of independence and discretion to achieve excellent results as directed by the Growth Campaign Director and the Chief Growth Officer, aligned to Group and Sector strategies.
- The ability to think across all levels of the business development process from tactical to strategic.
- Knowledge of the ASDEFCON suite of contracting documents.
Whilst not essential, this role may suit a former Senior Australian Defence Force Officer with explosive ordnance or engineering experience.
Candidates will need to hold an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
